Sex Offenders reach New Lows Print E-mail
Sunday, 14 September 2008

Two stories hit the wires this week about sex offenders, specifically pedophiles, that illustrate the lengths some of these men will go to reach children and how they often absolutely refuse to stay away from them.

The Poughkeepsie Journal has a story about Walter Freeman, 72 years old and pictured at left, who was recently sentenced to probation after failing to notify police of a change in his address which is required by law because Freeman is a convicted sex offender.

Under the terms of Freeman's recently imposed probation he is not to have any contact with children. Pretty cut and dry, there should be no ambiguity here.

Unfortunately, 40 minutes after Freeman left the court room and his probation went into affect, Freeman approached two children in a bank and offered to buy them ice cream. Authorities were alerted and Freeman was arrested again.

“You may have set the record for how quickly you violated probation,” Dutchess County Court Judge Gerald V. Hayes told Freeman during the ensuing court proceeding.

Hayes then sentenced Freeman to 1 1/2 to five years in state prison.

In a scarier and even more strange story, Neil Rodreick II, pictured at left, was just recently caught enrolling for school in Arizona as a 12 year old. Reports from the Arizona Republic state that Rodreick shaved himself and used cake makeup to appear younger than he was.

The article says that with the aid of fake documents, he enrolled in schools in Payson, Surprise, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley, AZ. Apparently the ruse fell apart after school officials became suspicious at Mingus Springs Charter School in Chino Valley, where Rodreick's enrollment paperwork had conflicting name spellings and birth dates. Officials notified the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, believing at the time that he was an abducted child.

Rodreick was sentenced to more than 70 years in prison with no chance of early release after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of fraudulent schemes, one count of failure to register as a sex offender and one count of simple assault.
