An alert Michigan sheriff's deputy helped rescue a woman who police say had been abducted by her
ex-boyfriend.
Kent County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Steve Dabkowski was leaving work about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when The Grand Rapids Press says he heard a woman yelling for help from a passing car.
Dabkowski got into his cruiser and chased the car. Police say the car ran and red light and was hit by another vehicle. The driver escaped and police say the woman suffered a broken arm in the crash.
The woman told police she had lunch with her ex-boyfriend, and he started hitting her as they left the restaurant and refused to take her home. The incident is under investigation.
