63rd District Court Judge Steven Servaas has officially answered complaints
filed against him in the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission.
According to an article from WZZM13, Servaas said in the response to the Tenure Commission that the comment
was meant as a joke and that other staffers who heard the comment
laughed. When he was told later that the staffer may have been
offended, he tried to contact her to apologize. When she wouldn't take
his calls, he left a message on her voicemail.
In answering the
residency requirements, Servaas claims that he not only bought a house
in Ada, but also property in South Carolina, Florida, on Bostwick Lake
and Big Whitefish Lake as investment properties. He admits to not
changing his address with the Secretary of State "immediately."
The complete responses to the complaints are provided below.
